Social Impact Content Design Team

During my second internship with Meta, I worked in the Social Impact division. My core projects were to create a deprecation flow for Drives, a fundraising product on Facebook and audit existing nonprofits to design content for the product replacing Drives called Designations. Read about my process for Designations below.

Task 2: Designations content strategy

"Designations" was the product meant to replace Drives. With the product in its early stages, I began the second half of my project auditing content 20 non-profits alongside UX Research, Data Science, Product Design and Product Marketing to assess the current “designation” landscape and provide suggestions for an improved content for our own product. I compiled three themes from this research, created content from what I learned and then tested said content with users.

Theme 1

My first recommendation was to take our original mock on the left and add a "recommended" signal to test if it motivated individuals to donate more than if it was not featured.

In future iterations, organizations would be able to set the "recommended" signal for any amount listed on their Designations page.

Theme 2

The second theme uncovered through my audit was that non-profits use the terms "donate," "support" and "gift" at varying rates to inspire donations. I create different subtitles to determine what would garner the best reactions from interviewees.

Theme 3

94% of the audited organizations placed a description of the organization above options to give. With that in mind, I wanted to try a design where the about section was above the donation section to see if it boosted understanding of the organization and motivate individuals to donate larger sums.
