Social Impact Content Design Team

During my second internship with Meta, I worked in the Social Impact division. My core projects were to create a deprecation flow for Drives, a fundraising product on Facebook and audit existing nonprofits to design content for the product replacing Drives called Designations. Read about my process sunsetting Drives below.

Task 1: Drives deprecation flow

Audience focus

With three distinct audiences, I fashioned my deprecation content to have dynamic messaging that would convey the proper notice to these groups while being sensitive to their unique use of the product.

Jewel Notifications

This is the first notification these audiences will receive about Drives' sunsetting process. Due to the character limit for these notifications, the copy was kept identical, but addressed audiences directly with "dynamic," changing copy.

Banner notifications

To ensure that each group understood the central message behind the banner, the body and title were kept the same with more dynamic copy to specify nonprofits and groups. The copy was then refined to stay consistent with the unique functionalities of the different drive types.

I also included a "Learn more" link directing to an in-depth page about how Drives will function post-sunset based on its type. This will address those who may have multiple kinds of Drives on different accounts.

Tip: I pushed to keep date-neutral copy to avoid issues that would come if our deprecation process began on a different date than proposed. In the end, legal asked us to pivot and add a specific date that engineers worked to add after my internship.
